School Checklist for Parents

Parents need to do a little homework this summer too. Find out if you know the answers to these 16 important questions before your child starts school.

____ Is your child officially registered at her school?

____ Has your child gotten a checkup and had all the immunizations required by the school?

____ Have you filled out all necessary health forms and emergency contact forms?

____ What date is the first day of school?

 

 

____ What time does your child have to be at school on his first day?

____ How is your child going to get to school?

____ Do you and your child know her teacher's name and where her classroom is?

____ What is involved in your child's daily schedule?

____ Will he need to bring his own lunch, a snack, or a bottle of water?

____ What time is lunch? Can your child buy it at school, and how much will it cost?

____ Are there certain clothes your child can or can't wear? Will she need a different set of clothes for gym class?

____ Does he need to bring school supplies on the first day of school?

____ Does your child have a bookbag or backpack?

____ Does your child have a list of important phone numbers, including you or your partner's work number, in his backpack?

____ If your child needs special medical care or is on a prescription medication, have you informed the principal's and nurse's office about these needs?

____ Does your child know where he's going after school and how to get there?
