Hang red, white and blue streamers.
Wear the flag colors on the 4th.
Red, white and blue napkins and plates.
Hang a map of the United States.
Get
a patriotic paper tablecloth.
Make a hot dog stand out of a cardboard box.
Decorate with small flags.
Flag Art:
Obtain a large piece of white butcher paper. You
will also need blue paper, red and white paint and
star shaped sponges. Have the children glue on the
blue square to the upper left hand side of the
paper. You will then have them use the star shaped
sponges in the white paint to make the stars. Then,
use the red paint to paint each child's hands and
then make the red stripes of the flag with their
hand prints.
Variation I: Use silver star stickers instead of
sponge painting. Variation II: Use smaller pieces of
paper and have each child do their own using their
fingerprints to make the red stripes. Variation III:
Paint the lines red instead of using hand prints.
Star Art:
Cut
out star shaped for the children and have them
decorate the shapes with markers, crayons, pens,
paint, glitter, torn paper or create your own ideas
with materials you have.
Paper Plate Streamers:
Each child will need red and blue crayons or
markers, two paper plates, red and blue streamers
and tape. Cut out the center of both paper plates.
Have the children decorate the top of one paper
plate and the bottom of the other with the crayons
or markers. Then on the side of one plate that is
not decorated have them tape on many streamers.
Place the other plate on top of the first so that
the two decorated sides are on the outside and the
streamers are on the inside. Tape closed. Have the
children dance with their streamer plates.
